Dr. Ronda Hughes is the director of the nursing informatics program and associate professor at the University of South Carolina. Her career has included a blend of roles in academia, administration, and research. Previously she was an associate professor at Marquette University in Milwaukee from 2010 to 2016, after almost two decades of service in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, primarily at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and the Health Resources and Services Administration. She is a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing. Dr. Hughes received her PhD in health policy and health services research from the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health in 2001, a master’s degree in health science in health policy and management with a minor in biomedical ethics from the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health, and a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Boston University.
