Dorothea M. Winter PhD, RN

Dr. Dorothea Winter has taught on the faculty of nursing at Salisbury University in Maryland for over 25 years. She received a Master’s and PhD in nursing from the University of Maryland, Baltimore with her PhD specialty in Nursing Informatics. Her clinical area of expertise is adult acute care, especially in the area of general surgery. Current research areas include nurses’ acceptance of computerized charting, perceived quality benefits of computerization in health care and computer literacy of nurses and nursing students. She is also very involved in the use of technology in nursing education, especially in the area of online course development and implementation.
