211 - Usability on the Forefront of Changing Care

The premise of utilization of technology in health care is to promote a safer and more efficient system of care. Usability focuses on the aim of right information in the right place for the right clinician at the right time. This session shares a usability design project approved by the University of Kentucky to focus on the efficiency, effectiveness, and satisfaction attributes of the EMR. Discussion includes a focus on the metrics measurements, including clinician satisfaction, time required for documentation, provider workflow enhancements, patient outcomes, and health IT safety parameters.
