The role of the nursing informaticist is complex and challenging. In one day, a nursing informaticist can be involved in workflow analysis, education, system design, project planning, data evaluation, leadership meetings, user support, and much more. For those new to the profession, this dizzying array of activities can be overwhelming, requiring the use of skills that have not yet been fully developed. In addition, many organizations do not understand the role of the nursing informaticist themselves, creating expectations that are unclear and difficult to attain. Join ANIA for our August webinar and learn from the wisdom of four experienced nursing informaticists as they discuss how to prepare yourself for entry into a nursing informatics career, or how to make your informatics career even more successful and satisfying.

Objectives:

  1. List at least three benefits that nursing informatics provides to an organization.
  2. Describe the role of the informatics nurse as a change agent.
  3. List three sources for continuing professional development.
  4. State four means to gain experience as a nursing informaticist.
  5. Identify at least three organizations that can promote involvement in the nursing informatics professional community.
