The Impact of the EHR on the Nurse’s Perception of Presence in the Nurse-Patient Relationship

This quantitative study explored whether using an electronic health record (EHR) affected inpatient nurses’ perception of presence in the nurse-patient relationship. Researchers administered the Presence of Nursing Scale-Registered Nurse and collected demographic data. Study results revealed nurses who identified as younger and with less experience reported a decreased perception of presence with patients as it relates to EHR utilization.
