Constructing Opportunity: The Evolution of the Role of Nursing Informatics
This presentation uses the construction of a state-of-the-art, 372-bed hospital on a brand new campus as an example to provide insight into how the distinctive skill set of nursing informatics can serve as a foundation for other career and development opportunities.

Consulting as a Nursing Informatics Career Path: Considerations for Success
This session explores the opportunities available within healthcare IT for nursing informaticists as a consultant. The evolution of the types of roles and organizations that are available for informatics nurses as a contracted resource, as well as the background and experience required for success and gained along this career path, are addressed. The experience of how working as a contracted resource can be different from roles as a traditional employee and what informatics nurses should be prepared for before making a transition to consulting is discussed.
