Overview

This quantitative study explored whether using an electronic health record affected inpatient nurses’ perception of presence in the nurse-patient relationship. Researchers administered the Presence of Nursing Scale-Registered Nurse (PONS-RN) and collected demographic data. Study results revealed nurses who identified as younger and with less experience reported a decreased perception of presence with patients as it relates to electronic health record utilization.
