Clinical informatics nurse specialists play a crucial role in patient safety, evidence-based practice, project management, data collection and analysis, etc. Thus, the transition from the role of a clinical informatics nurse specialist to an informatics nurse scientist is easier than one would think. With a faster-than-average rate than most other careers, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projected a 19% growth rate for nurse scientists between 2012 and 2022.
