Dr. Steph Hoelscher is Professor of Graduate Informatics and MSN Informatics Program Director at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas. With nearly 30 years of experience spanning oncology, trauma, and nursing informatics, she now focuses on advancing digital health solutions and artificial intelligence to support frontline nursing practice.
She is board certified in informatics, a HIMSS Fellow, and formally trained in AI management and prompt engineering. Dr. Hoelscher is the creator of the N.U.R.S.E.S. AI Literacy Framework, designed to provide nurses with a practical and ethical roadmap for integrating AI into healthcare. She currently serves as co-chair of the HIMSS Nursing Informatics Education & Networking Task Force and advises international committees on AI in nursing and healthcare. Through her teaching, research, and professional service, she works to ensure that digital innovations, including AI, advance patient care while upholding the highest standards of safety, ethics, and nursing practice. Dr. Hoescher served as past Chair of the ANIA Social Media Committee from 2021-2024.
