Cheryl A. Reilly RN, PhD

Cheryl Reilly is a faculty member at Walden University and has been engaged in nursing education, health informatics, and research for over twenty years. She holds a B.S. in nursing from Boston College and attended the University of California San Francisco where she received a M.S. in Nursing Administration and Child Mental Health and a Ph.D. in Nursing with a focus in informatics, healthcare quality, health services research, and biostatistics. While pursing doctoral studies, she was an AHRQ pre-doctoral fellow at the Institute for Health Policy Studies, completed informatics course work and a research residency in the Section of Medical Informatics at Stanford University, served as the project director for an NIH funded study examining the quality of nursing care, and received an AHRQ dissertation grant award to develop a symptom checklist for patients on a tablet. She completed a Nursing Informatics Fellowship and then became a Corporate Manager in the Clinical Informatics Research and Development group at Partners Healthcare System. She led the development, a web-based application used to document the nursing admission assessment to facilitate decision making and quality monitoring. She was also responsible for Partners’ consumer health portal and was involved in the design of the prototype and production versions of Partners’ patient portal. She has also served as a leadership consultant and nurse researcher with a focus in patient safety, health care quality, informatics, and professional development.
