Dr. Carolyn Harmon is a nurse scientist for the Center for Nursing Advancement, which serves the state of Tennessee and Appalachian Highlands and is operated by East Tennessee State University. Dr. Harmon is a past president of ANIA. She received her Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina and her DNP from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is an ANCC Board Certified Informatics Nurse, Certified Six Sigma Green Belt, fellow in the Amy V. Cockcroft Leadership Program, and a recipient of the state of South Carolina’s Palmetto Gold Award. Dr. Harmon was the 2021-2022 recipient of the ENA and Sigma Foundation’s research grant. She has nationally disseminated her scholarly work in informatics since 2010. In October 2023, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality’s Patient Safety Network featured Dr. Harmon’s research on unintended consequences of the EHR.
