Carol Santschi works as a systems administrator in the nursing informatics department at Akron General Medical Center in Akron, OH. She has been a nurse for 38 years, with the majority of her nursing career working as an operating room nurse. For the past four and a half years, she has worked in nursing informatics. Carol obtained her MSN in nursing informatics from Walden University in February 2012, and then became certified in nursing informatics through the American Nurses Credentialing Center later that year. She obtained her Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification and has worked on projects to reduce duplication and improve workflows for nursing staff. Carol designed and implemented the Nursing Informatics Council at her organization almost three years ago and has worked since then to advance the roles of the council to meet the strategic goals of the organization.
