Kathleen Klimpel PhD, CNS, ACHIP

Dr. Kathy Klimpel is a clinical associate professor at the University of San Diego Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science and a senior clinical informaticist at Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego. Kathy has practiced as a clinical nurse specialist (CNS) in pediatric nursing across the country for over 30 years and brought her CNS skills to the field of informatics more than 15 years ago. As an informatics specialist, Kathy collaborates with the healthcare team to facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes for pediatric patients by merging clinical expertise with technological tools to support the best practices of clinicians. As an associate professor, she is bringing her experience and expertise to the next generation of Informaticists. Kathy is a founding member of the San Diego regional chapter of ANIA and has previously served as treasurer while is currently president-elect.
