Program Manager for Clinical Informatics Research, Texas Health Resources

Dr. Tanna Nelson is a registered nurse with 25 years of experience. She is a critical care nurse by background who transitioned to informatics when her organization implemented the electronic health record. She has served several different informatics roles which has provided her with multiple perspectives and experiences - in nursing as an application analyst who helped build the electronic health record at her organization, as an informatics nurse specialist focused on data analytics and regulatory reporting, and currently as program manager for clinical informatics research at Texas Health Resources. As former president of the distinguished Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter of ANIA and an adjunct faculty for nursing informatics programs at both Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and University of Texas at Tyler, she is passionate about networking, collaboration, and facilitation of learning opportunities that benefit informatics nurses competencies in practical ways with direct applicability.
