Mari F. Tietze PhD, RN-BC, FHIMSS

Mari Tietze implemented one of the first bedside computer systems hospital-wide that used barcode medication administration technology.  From 2007-2010, Mari was director of nursing research and informatics for the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council, Education and Research Foundation. In that role, she was responsible for deployment of the council’s 3-year technology implementation project on behalf of the Small Community, Rural Hospitals Research Grant, a National Institute of Health grant funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.  Mari was principal investigator on a team that was awarded an $8.4 million grant from the Office of National Coordinator for Health IT for a regional extension center in North Texas.  She also directed workforce center nursing research and data initiative informatics projects. 
          In 2010, Mari became an associate professor at Texas Woman’s University, College of Nursing, Dallas Center, teaching interprofessional education approach informatics, nursing research, and statistics. She currently is project director for the post-baccalaureate interprofessional informatics certification program. She also serves as co-chair of the Texas Nurses Association/Texas Organization of Nurse Executives committee on health information technology. Mari is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center in informatics nursing and is FHIMSS certified by the Health Information Management Systems Society.
