John R. Lumpkin MD, MPH

John R. Lumpkin is senior vice president and director of targeted teams at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, where he has worked for the last 12 years. Prior to that he served as the director of the Illinois Department of Public Health. He has served on numerous federal advisory committees related to public health and information policy, including serving as chairman of the National Committee for Vital and Health Statistics during the development of the rules implementing the 1996 HIPAA law.  During that time he led the development of the report Information for Health, which led to the formation of the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Policy (ONC).
