Kathleen Smith MScEd, RN-BC, FHIMSS

Kathleen Smith has been involved in nursing informatics since 1986. She served as project manager to develop the Computer-Assisted Medical Information Systems (CAMIS) Interactive Video Training for the Navy Medical Department. Kathleen retired from the Naval Reserves, and then worked in a variety of nursing informatics consulting positions. She co-developed the Weekend Immersion in Nursing Informatics (WINI) educational program in 1995 and has been a managing partner of Informatics Consulting and Continuing Education, L.L.C. since 2003.

In addition to her work with WINI, Kathleen has presented at national and international conferences, edited the then CARING, now ANIA, newsletter, served on the CARING Board of Directors, and served as a section editor for the Saba & McCormick Essentials of Nursing Informatics, 5th and 6th edition. Kathleen has been active in AMIA Nursing Informatics Working Group, and HIMSS, serving on the nursing informatics working group, and was named a Fellow in HIMSS.
