Virginia Saba EdD, RN, FAAN, FACMI

Dr. Virginia K. Saba is a pioneer in the field of nursing informatics and for over 30 years has been involved in the integration of NI in the nursing profession. She is also an educator and researcher focusing on nursing languages for the electronic health record or health information technology systems. Dr. Saba has been promoting NI not only nationally but also internationally, serving as a past chair of the IMIA NI Special Interest Group. She has supported committee developing the Reference Terminology Model for NI and been involved in numerous standards organizations. Currently, Dr. Saba is involved and responsible for the Clinical Care Classification (CCC) System, a free standardized coded nursing terminology approved by the ANA and HHS and used to document the essence of nursing practice. Dr. Saba has published numerous books and articles and has given numerous presentations on NI and nursing languages.
