Leigh Ann Chandler Poole PhD, CRNP, FNP-BC, RN

Dr. Leigh Ann Chandler Poole is a family nurse practitioner with an PhD in nursing. She is the Coordinator of the NP Concentration: Mental Health and Primary Care for Rural Populations at The University of Alabama. Dr. Poole has taught nursing in both private and public institutions at the associates, baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral level for 17 years. She is a well-known invited speaker on telemedicine and online education. She served as a consultant for the governor during the creation of the Alabama Partnership for Telehealth. She is the project director for an inter-professional grant utilizing telemedicine to provide care for rural populations and serves as Vice-Chair of the Telehealth Nursing SIG for the American Telemedicine Association. Dr. Poole served as a member of the workgroup revising the Nursing Informatics Scope and Standards for the American Nurses Association.
