Theresa (Tess) Settergren MHA, MA, RN-BC

Tess (Theresa) Settergren is Director of Nursing Informatics in the Enterprise Information Services Department at Cedars-Sinai Health System, Los Angeles. Tess directed several ambulatory electronic medical record implementations for Cedars-Sinai and helped to enable integrated enterprise workflows for computerized physician order management at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. She has over fifteen years’ experience implementing and optimizing clinical information systems and was director overseeing two hundred clinical applications, including the enterprise electronic health record, in her position previous to joining Cedars-Sinai. Tess has been board-certified in nursing informatics by the ANCC since 1997.

Tess was co-founder and president of the Minnesota Nursing Informatics Group (MINING) from 2000 to 2007, where she established an annual nursing informatics conference program featuring internationally recognized speakers on informatics, participated in the first Technology Informatics Guiding Educational Reform (TIGER) conference, and collaborated with Minnesota Organization for Leaders in Nursing and University of MN School of Nursing to launch Minnesota TIGER conferences. Tess has been a member of ANIA/CARING since 1996. She is currently serving on the American Nursing Informatics Association conference committee and Southern California HIMSS Marketing & Communications Committee. Tess has served on boards of directors for the Alliance for Nursing Informatics, Center for Healthcare Innovation, Minnesota Epic User Group, Community Health Information Collaborative (MN), and management committee for the Minnesota Center for Health Electronic Commerce.
