Kenneth W. Dion PhD, MSN, MBA, RN

Dr. Kenneth Dion is a 30-year veteran of the healthcare industry. He is a registered nurse and holds master’s degrees in business administration and nursing administration and a PhD in nursing systems from the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Dion realizes that the healthcare industry has unique requirements in the forms of intense regulation, privacy issues, system availability requirements and budgetary constraints. He has a clear understanding of the current market and technology adoption and standardization issues facing healthcare today.

During his tenure as a healthcare information systems consultant in the mid 1990's, Dr. Dion implemented the first high-availability electronic medical record in the healthcare industry at Texas Children’s Hospital, an internationally recognized pediatric teaching institution. He has completed numerous mission-critical system implementations and has developed information management and information systems strategic plans. He has been widely published in the increasingly nationally recognized field of healthcare informatics.

Dr. Dion founded Decision Critical, Inc. in 1999, a software-as-a-service information systems company dedicated to meeting the education compliance needs of healthcare organizations. During his tenure at Decision Critical he was awarded a patent for the Critical Portfolio™, an ePortfolio product. In 2012, Decision Critical, the company he bootstrapped from startup, was acquired by Healtsteam, Inc., where he now serves as Vice President and Chief of Nursing Informatics.
